Which free AI PowerPoint generator includes PPTX export?

Gamma lists PPTX export on its free plan, with a limited non-renewing AI credit allowance. Canva documents PPTX downloads for presentations. Check premium assets, branding, AI allowance, and the exported file before relying on either.

Is Deckary a permanently free AI presentation maker?

No. Deckary offers a 14-day trial with a limited AI allowance and no credit card required. You can create in the browser and export editable PPTX; continued AI use requires an eligible paid plan.

Does Canva require Pro for every PowerPoint export?

No blanket restriction is stated in the Canva download guidance reviewed here. PPTX is a supported presentation format. Premium content and AI allowances are separate questions from the file format.

The GenPPT pricing page reviewed on 26 September 2026 states no free plan and a $1, three-day trial requiring a card. That is a paid trial, not a free tier.

Pricing and feature information was accurate at the time of publication. Competitor products change frequently — verify current details on each provider's website.

A free AI PowerPoint generator needs to satisfy two separate requirements: it must let you generate slides within a free allowance, and it must let you obtain the file you need. “Start free” may mean a limited credit pool, a recurring allowance, or a trial that expires.

Checked 26 September 2026 against official product pages. This is a documentation comparison, not a claim that we signed up for and tested every free plan. Deckary is our product. We distinguish documented export support from export quality, which you should check on your own file.

Free plans, trials, and PowerPoint export#

Tool	Free access or trial	PPTX workflow	Limit to check
Gamma	Free plan; 400 AI credits that do not refresh	PPTX export listed on Free	Up to 10 slides per prompt; AI actions consume credits; branding removal is paid
Canva	Free account with feature-dependent AI allowances	PPTX is a supported presentation download	Premium content, current AI allowance, and export differences
SlidesAI	Basic: $0/month	Supports slide-platform workflows; confirm the chosen integration	12 presentations/year, 1,000 input characters per presentation, 120 AI credits/year
Microsoft Copilot	Access depends on your subscription and account	Works in PowerPoint with an eligible offering	Free Copilot Chat is not a universal entitlement to all PowerPoint AI features
GenPPT	No free plan; $1 three-day trial, card required	Advertises PowerPoint/PDF export	Paid trial and full-slide image output are distinct from free native-object editing
Deckary	14-day trial, limited AI allowance, no card	Browser creation with editable PPTX export; PowerPoint add-in also available	Trial expiry and AI allowance; continued AI use needs a paid plan

For a cost-free starting point with explicitly listed PPTX export, Gamma is worth trying. For an ongoing manual presentation editor, Canva or PowerPoint for the web may be enough. If your goal is to evaluate Deckary on a real business deck, use the trial with a clear task and acceptance checks.

What each limit means#

Gamma: free credits do not imply a fixed number of decks#

Gamma's help center says AI costs vary by action, model, and generation complexity. Do not convert 400 credits into a guaranteed eight or ten presentations. Revisions and images can consume the same pool. The free credit balance does not refresh. Gamma credit rules.

Canva: check the content and the export#

Canva's download documentation lists PPTX for presentations; it does not support the claim that every PowerPoint export requires Pro. It also warns that the exported file can differ in fonts and appearance, and that animations and embedded video have limitations. Premium assets and AI access are separate from the format. Canva's download guidance.

SlidesAI: use the allowance actually listed#

The reviewed Basic plan lists 12 presentations per year and 1,000 characters per input. That is different from three presentations every month, and a short input cap matters if you are pasting a long report. Confirm which integration and export path your account supports. SlidesAI pricing.

Copilot and GenPPT: check whether access is already paid for#

Copilot access varies across individual and business subscriptions; do not assume a free chat account includes slide creation in PowerPoint. GenPPT explicitly lists a $1 trial and no free plan. If zero payment is a requirement, exclude paid trials from your shortlist. Microsoft plans, GenPPT terms.

Deckary: a time-limited product evaluation#

Deckary lets you create an editable deck in the browser without installing an add-in. You can also work directly in PowerPoint through the Office add-in. The trial lasts 14 days and includes a limited AI allowance; it is not unlimited or permanently free AI access. Current Deckary plans.

Create an editable presentation in your browser. No card is required for the trial. Premium costs $19/month or $180/year for continued AI use.

Try this three-slide example before using your whole allowance#

Use these fictional inputs: Q1 revenue €100,000; Q2 revenue €120,000; Q2 target €125,000; next action: investigate onboarding delays. Ask:

Create three editable slides for a quarterly update. Slide 1: the revenue conclusion. Slide 2: Q1 actual, Q2 actual, and Q2 target in a chart. Slide 3: the next action and an owner placeholder. Use only the supplied figures. Do not claim onboarding caused the revenue gap.

A suitable output has this structure:

Slide	Expected content	Editability check
Conclusion	Revenue grew 20% quarter on quarter but missed target by €5,000	Change the title text directly
Evidence	100,000; 120,000; 125,000 with units and period labels	Inspect the chart data or the separate editable values
Action	Investigate onboarding delays; owner still to be assigned	Change the owner without rebuilding the slide

This is an original evaluation example, not a screenshot of generated output. Export the deck if PowerPoint is your destination. Open that exact .pptx, change a number, and inspect text, charts, and fonts. A downloadable PowerPoint containing one image per slide is a different result from a deck with editable text and charts.

Choose by the work after generation#

For occasional drafts, a free credit allowance may cover the task. For repeated work, compare the paid plan and the time required to revise the output. For a trial, evaluate one realistic source-to-deck job before the time or usage allowance ends.
