Build a financial model in Excel with AI

Deckary can build a financial model directly in Excel by creating native worksheets, assumptions, formulas, notes, and number formats. The agent works best when you define the model horizon, units, driver logic, and outputs before it writes. You remain responsible for reviewing financial assumptions and decisions.

Define the model contract#

Before authoring, specify:

  • forecast period and frequency;
  • currency, scale, and sign convention;
  • historical and forecast source ranges;
  • business drivers and scenario assumptions;
  • required statements, schedules, or summary outputs;
  • whether existing cells may be replaced.

If those choices are missing, ask the agent to inspect the workbook and propose the structure before writing it.

Build in stages#

For a new model, a durable sequence is:

  1. Read the workbook summary and the relevant historical ranges.
  2. Create or identify an assumptions sheet.
  3. Write labeled drivers with units, notes, and input formatting.
  4. Build the calculation schedule with native formulas.
  5. Read back formulas and results for the written range.
  6. Run a formula audit on the completed block.
  7. Add a summary or output sheet only after the core schedule is verified.

Deckary can create new tabs and use native cell styles, borders, notes, and number formats. It does not need to export a separate spreadsheet to return the model.

Example request#

Build a monthly 24-month SaaS revenue schedule from the assumptions on Inputs.
Separate new and existing customer revenue, show churn explicitly, use formulas
instead of hardcoded forecast values, and add cell notes for the three main
assumptions. Ask before overwriting any non-empty range.

Review the result#

Check the business logic as well as the mechanics. Confirm that formulas reference the intended periods, scenario inputs propagate, units remain consistent, and outputs reconcile to the source data. Deckary's readback and audit evidence reduce silent errors, but they do not replace professional financial review.
